Canadian Championships Shields

In 1974, Mr. R.T.F. Thomson of Victoria, BC, who had been SSC's vice-president from 1962 to 1966, presented two shields who were to be given to the best provincial/territorial teams in long track and short track speed skating, combining all the canadian championships.

Doreen Ryan Shield

In Long Track competition the award is known as the Doreen Ryan Shield, named after a former Canadian Olympian.

Pat Underhill Shield 

In Short Track, the Pat Underhill Shield is awarded to the provincial/territorial team totaling the most points from the Canadian Open Championships and the Canadian Age Class Championship.
