Olympic Media Availabilities

Short Track Speed Skating

A media availability calendar has been developped for the Short Track Speed Skating Team for the duration of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games. For the calendar, please click here.

The last Team availability in Montreal will take place on Wednesday, January 27 at the Maurice-Richard Arena. The women's team will be on the ice from 8:30 to 10am and available for interviews shortly after, around 10:30. The men's team will be training on ice from 10:15 to 11am, and available for interviews around 11:15am.

During the Team's camp in Calgary, there will be a media availability on Thursday, February 4 at the Calgary Olympic Oval. Athletes will be on the ice from 3:30 to 4:45pm. The women will be available for interviews at 5pm and the men at 5:40pm.

Upon the Team's arrival in Vancouver, athletes and coaches will take part in a press conference on Sunday, February 7 at 3pm at Speed Skating Canada House, located at 7277 River Road, in Richmond.

Media will be invited to a few training sessions prior to the start of the competitions (see calendar for dates, times and athletes available), where specific athletes will be available in the mixed zone following training. On competition days, athletes will be giving interviews in the mixed zone after their last race in a distance. They may be available for studio and other interviews that night and the following morning, upon requests. Coaches will always be available along with their athletes. Support staff members may be available aside from those set availabilities. All requests and questions should be directed to Mylène Croteau, Short Track Media Attaché, via phone (613-294-6459) or email.

Requests for interviews with athletes' families and friends should be adressed to Roch Pilon, SSC House Media Attaché, at 604-754-2698 or via email.

Long Track Speed Skating

There are no more availabilities for the long track speed skaters prior to their arrival in Vancouver. The Team press conference will take place on Tuesday, February 9 at 2:30pm at SSC House, located at 7277 River Road, in Richmond.

Typically, athletes will be available for a short period of time in the mixed zone following their daily training session, with the exception of athletes who are competing in the next 48-72 hours. For details, the training schedule or to confirm the availability of a specific athlete, please contact Antonio Faiola, Long Track Media Attaché, via phone (604-345-9758) or email.

Athletes will be available in the mixed zone following each of their event. For the 500m, athletes will not speak in the mixed zone in between the two races, but they will be available for interviews following the second race.

In addition, all medallists will go through the mixed zone following their medal ceremony.

Requests for interviews with athletes' families and friends should be adressed to Roch Pilon, SSC House Media Attaché, at 604-754-2698 or via email.
