The Long term Participant Athlete Development (LTPAD) Connection:
In 2005, Speed Skating published Find Your Edge as a commitment to adopting the Long Term Participant Athlete Development Model (LTPAD). Since then, a Competition and Event System review has been completed with a summary and recommendations identified in Racing on Skates. The guiding principles of the Competitions and Events Review were developed based on SSC values: Sport is an Apprenticeship for Life, Respect for Others, Integrity, Excellence of Effort, Safe, and Healthy Environment, and Volunteerism. All Branches and Clubs have been provided a copy of Racing on Skates.
Applications are required to show commitment to ensuring the implementation of both Speed Skating Values and the delivery of Developmentally Appropriate Programs as outlined in Racing on Skates and the recommendations of the Competition and Events Review at the club level.
The True Sport Connection:
The True Sport Movement and Speed Skating have teamed up in an effort to continue giving Canadians the sport they desire: good sport. True Sport is founded on this notion of good sport and believes it is achieved by adhering to a set of core values that consist of inclusion, fairness, fun and excellence. True Sport is based on six principles: Go For It, Play Fair, Respect Others, Keep It Fun, Stay Healthy and Give Back. By committing to these Principles your team joins a growing Movement of Canadians who believe that sport has the power to shape character and express values, promote inclusion and inspire excellence. For further information on the True Sport Movement and how your club can make its declaration visit: http://www.truesportpur.ca/en/home.
Clubs are required to make their True Sport declaration prior to submitting a Club & Membership Development grant application.
