Jean Grenier Appreciation Award
TThis award was first established and presented in 1999 by the SSC board of directors. It is established in the name of Jean Grenier, a long time volunteer to speed skating in Canada and a Canadian representative in the International Skating Union (ISU).
This award is presented to an outstanding volunteer, either member or non-member of Speed Skating Canada, who has contributed to the betterment of our sport. For clarity, nominees do not have to be a member or have any direct affiliation with Speed Skating Canada. He/she is an unsung hero who works/worked tirelessly on our behalf in capacities similar, but not limited to competition and event planning, meetings and clinic planning, and any other long-term initiative deemed outstanding by our membership and selection committee.
Those who are eligible may include management and/or employee(s) of our sponsors, city and town officials, facility and rink managers ,members of Speed Skating Canada, or any other individual(s) who has made an outstanding contribution at a national and/or international level.
Due to its prestige, this award will only be presented at the discretion of the selection committee.
