Canada Post Delivers for Speed Skaters

Speed Skating Canada is pleased to announce that Canada Post has made a three-year commitment to sponsor the national speed skating teams.

The sponsorship means that Canada’s best speed skaters will now have the resources to stage key training camps and participate in key international competitions in preparation for the 2006 Olympics in Torino, Italy.

“Canada Post has always been known as a corporation that is Caring, Trustworthy and Effective and now we also want to be known as Innovative and Bold,” says Alain Guilbert, Vice-President, Communications for Canada Post.

“For these reasons we have decided to partner with Canada’s national short and long track speed skating teams for the next three years. Through our association with the speed skaters, Canada Post wants to show that its services and employees are also fleet of foot.”

“Speed Skating Canada is happy to be associated with a renowned leader in the area of postal services,” said Jean R. Dupré, Director General of Speed Skating Canada.

“The financial support this partnership will provide to our high performance programs will allow us to continue our domination on the international circuit.

In Nagano and Salt Lake City, Canadian speed skaters won a total of 18 medals, fully over 56 percent of the total medals won by Canada.

“We are proud to have Canada Post join our valued team of corporate partners as we continue to strive for excellence.”

Speed Skating Canada is the national governing body responsible for the advancement and growth of speed skating in Canada.
