Canadian officials receive 23 assignments to ISU 2012-13 competitions

OTTAWA
– The International Skating Union (ISU) has appointed 12 Speed Skating Canada officials to 23 assignments at seven ISU long track and five short track competitions during the 2012-13 season.

“These appointments speak very highly of the skill and dedication of these officials, as well as the SSC officials program,” said Ted Houghton of Abbotsford, B.C., chair of SSC’s officials development committee.

Competitions for each official:

  • Yves Bélanger of Saskatoon: Continental Regional Qualifying event in Salt Lake City, Utah, and the long track World All-Round Championships in Hamar, Norway
  • Trevis Boyd of Winnipeg: World Cup (sprint) in Calgary
  • Sandra Chenard of Ottawa: Short track World Cup in Montreal
  • Jacques Grégoire of Pointes-aux-Trembles, Que.: Short track World Cups in Montreal and Dresden, Germany and the World Short Track Championships in Debrecen, Hungary
  • Darrell Haack of Kitchener, Ont.: Long track Junior World Cup in Roseville, Minn.
  • Ted Houghton of Abbotsford, B.C.: Short track World Cup in Calgary
  • Richard Hunt of Kingston, Ont.: Long track Junior World Cup and World Cup (sprint) in Calgary, Continental Regional Qualifying event and World Sprint Championships in Salt Lake City
  • Wim Kok of Fort St. John, B.C.: Long track Junior World Cup in Roseville, Minn.
  • Michael Makowsky of Regina: World Cup (sprint) in Calgary
  • Normand Picotin of St. Lazarre, Que.: Short track World Cup in Calgary
