Canadian Officials Represent Canada at Major International Competitions

This year many of our top Level 5 officials will be representing Canada at major speed skating International competitions.

Michel Verrault, Lac Beauport QC has been selected as the Assistant Referee for the Ladies Short Track in Torino, Italy at the Olympic Winter Games. This is Verrault’s 4th Olympics as a referee. He was also appointed as the Referee for the Bosideng ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating in Bormio, Italy.

Long Track Starter Hans Terstappen, Calgary AB was appointed as the Starter Ladies for the World Sprint Speed Skating Championships in Heerenveen, Netherlands and as the Starter Men for the Essent ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Calgary Canada.

Long Track Starter Yves Belanger, Saskatoon SK was appointed as the Starter Men for the World Junior Speed Skating Championships in Erfurt, Germany. He was also appointed as the Starter Ladies for the Essent ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Calgary AB and as the Starter Men for the Essent ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Salt Lake City, USA.

Long Track Referee Jim McClements, Saskatoon SK was appointed as the Referee Ladies for the World Allround Speed Skating Championships in Calgary, Canada and as the Referee Ladies for the Essent ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Calgary, Canada.

Long Track Referee Dave Thomson, Calgary AB was appointed as the Assistant Referee Men for the Essent ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Calgary, Canada.

Long Track Referee Morley Bruce, Saskatoon SK was appointed as the Assistant Referee Ladies for the Essent ISU World Cup Speed Skating in Salt Lake City, USA.

Competitors Steward Normand Picotin, St. Lazarre QC was appointed to the ISU World Junior Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Miercurea-Ciuc, Romania.

Short Track Referee John Trowbridge, Winnipeg MB was appointed as the Referee at the ISU European Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Krynica Zdroj, Slovenia. He was also appointed as the Assistant Referee for the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Minneapolis, USA.

Short Track Referee Roch Loignon, Sherbrooke QC and Short Track Starter Guy Marcoux Quebec, QC were appointed as the Assistant Referee and Starter respectively for the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Team Championships in Montreal, Canada.

Short Track Starter Ted Houghton, Abbotsford BC was appointed as the Starter for the ISU World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Minneapolis, USA.
