Final 2014 Olympic Winter Games Qualifying competition

Montreal, November 14th, 2013 – The final stage of the Canadian Short Track Speed Skating Team’s Olympic qualifying process begins today. The team is currently in Kolomna, Russia, located roughly 100 kilometers from Moscow. Their mission is to ensure the maximum spots for Canada in all distances at the Sochi Olympic Games.

The qualifications for the 1500m and 500m are set to begin today (Thursday). Marie-Ève Drolet joins the team in Russia for her return to competition.

Reminder
A maximum of three athletes per country can qualify for each event. To guarantee their spot, the athletes must rank among the top 32 in the 500m and the 1000m and among the top 36 in the 1500m. Only the top eight teams will qualify for the Sochi men’s and women’s relay (which includes Russia, guaranteed as home nation).
