Guy Marcoux has passed away

It is with great sadness that Speed Skating Canada and the Fédération de patinage de vitesse du Québec announces that short track Starter, Mr. Guy Marcoux, from Loretteville, QC, has passed away.

Involved in speed skating for 40 years as an official and a volunteer in many roles, Guy Marcoux climbed up the ranks as a Starter, making his way to the top – the 1994 Olympic Games (Long Track) and 2010 Olympic Games (Short Track) as well as the World Championships.

He was inducted as a Builder into Speed Skating Canada's Hall of Fame in 1997 as well as into FPVQ's Hall of Fame in 2012. He was also a board member for the FPVQ for over a decade, in addition to being involved in many sports committees and acting as a mentor to dozens of Canadian officials for close to 30 years.

He leaves behind his spouse Louise and their three daughters Diane, Sylvie and Marie-Josée, his family and numerous friends.
