Le May Doan named as Olympic Oval Liaison

Catriona Le May Doan takes on a new leadership role as Olympic Oval Liaison and will work with sporting organizations, partners and community supporters to maintain the facility’s world-class reputation.

"We're delighted to have an individual with such passion and expertise join the Oval,” said Dr. Ron Zernicke, Dean of the University of Calgary’s Faculty of Kinesiology “Catriona represents 'the best' of what the Oval is and will continue to be. Her standards of excellence and understanding of what it takes to be excellent make her a perfect ambassador for the Oval, the University and the Calgary community.”

A two-time Olympic Gold medalist, Le May Doan will represent the Oval at national and international levels as well as provide a link with Oval Program athletes.

“The Oval has been such a big part of my life and I’m a passionate supporter,” says Le May Doan. “Part of my new challenge is to help our partners and supporters to understand our unique environment and what is necessary to keep us a world leader as well as to reach out to the community to build new partnerships that will position the Oval for continued success.”

As part of the executive management team, Le May Doan will also provide insight and assistance in advising on strategic direction.

“She is an outstanding addition to our leadership team at the Oval,” said Zernicke. “We look forward to working with her to further enhance high-performance sport, and University and community programming."

Carrying out her duties as Olympic Oval Liaison on a part-time basis, Le May Doan will continue her work in broadcasting, public speaking and on the Board of Directors for the Vancouver 2010 Organizing Committee.
