NEWS: Day 1 at the Canada Cup #1 at Quebec City’s Gaétan-Boucher Oval

QUEBEC CITY – The first day of competition at the Canada Cup #1, long track, took place today at the Gaétan-Boucher Oval in Quebec City. The women took part in the 500-metre and 1,500-metre races, junior men the 3,000 metres and men in the 500 metres and 1,000 metres distances.

The results from the first day of competition are as follows:

500 metres men: 1. Laurent Dubreuil (Quebec), 37.08; 2. Muncef Ouardi (Quebec), 37.34; 3. Alex Boisvert-L (Quebec), 37.51.
500 metres women: 1. Kaylin Irvine (Alberta), 42.37; 2. Marsha Hudey (Sask.), 42.49; 3. Kate Hanly (Alberta), 42.68.
1,000 metres men: 1. Laurent Dubreuil (Quebec), 1:14.97; 2. Mykola Makowsky (Sask.), 1:15.56; Muncef Ouardi (Quebec), 1:15.89.
1 500 metres women: 1. Kirsty Lay (Alberta), 2:12.63; 2. Kali Christ (Sask.), 2:13.22; 3. Brianne Tutt (Alberta), 2:13.62.
3,000 metres junior men: 1. François Dery (Quebec), 4:18.57; 2. Conner McConvey (Ontario), 4:22.15; 3. Jeff Neufeld (Manitoba), 4:23.96.

On Saturday, the featured distances are 1,000 metres and 3,000 for women, and 1,500 metres and 5,000 metres for men.
