Sherbrooke to host Canadian Senior Short Track Selections #1

The competition will take place this weekend, January 19-21, at Eugène-Lalonde Arena
Sherbrooke, January 18, 2018 – Eugène-Lalonde Arena in Sherbrooke will play host over the weekend, January 19-21, to the top 64 senior short track speed skaters in Canada, except for the Canadian Olympic Team members, as they will be taking part in the Canadian Senior Short Track Selections #1.

The 32 male and 32 female skaters involved will look to improve on their national ranking with the objective of qualifying for the national team next season.

Many athletes who skated at the Olympic Trials held last August will take part in the competition, as well as 2018 Junior National Team members Vincent Girard, Alexis Marceau, Adrian Rudy and Marco Schumann on the men’s side, and Danaé Blais, Alyson Charles, Claudia Gagnon and Courtney Sarault on the women’s side.

The competition will be webstreamed live on the Fédération de patinage de vitesse du Québec YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4H5zRPOMLrn1X3CQ6lkYmg.

Admission is $5 on Friday and Saturday, and $10 on Sunday.

Following is the approximate competition schedule (local time):

Friday, January 19 (repechage and final rounds: 1500m)
Start Time: 11:10 am

Saturday, January 20 (repechage and final rounds: 500m)
Start Time: 2:10 pm

Sunday, January 21 (repechage and final rounds: 1000m, 3000m and relays)
Start Time: 10:10 am
