SSC Looking for Long Track Equipment Technician

Position summary/overview:
Speed Skating Canada (SSC) is the National Sport Organization for Speed Skating in Canada.

The Long Track Equipment Technician is responsible for the delivery of technical services relating to equipment for the Long Track High Performance Program. In the carrying-out of their functions and responsibilities, the Long Track Equipment Technician will work very closely with the Long Track Program Director, National Team Coaches and National and Development Team athletes. The position is based out of the National Training Centre in Calgary, Alberta.

Key responsibilities of this position include:
- Provide specific expertise regarding performance equipment such as blades and boots.
- Ensure timely services for preparing and maintaining equipment
- Educate and enhance the level of athlete and coach familiarity and proficiency within the areas of skate maintenance.
- Maintain current documentation regarding individual athlete specifications as well as associated technical processes.
- Facilitate the development of new equipment and tools.
- Assess and source new technologies and equipment.
- Monitor and evaluate best practices from international programs in the area of equipment, research and development.
- Coordinate and support the testing of new equipment and measurement methods.
- Collaborate and communicate with all National Team coaches current status and all changes and modifications made to skaters equipment.

The ideal candidate should have some knowledge and a demonstrated passion and interest in the amateur sporting system within Canada. The ability to multi-task in time sensitive situations will be required along with the capacity to carry out highly detail oriented tasks. Relationship building through the provision of services and support to a wide range of stakeholders including national and development team athletes and coaches is critical. This individual will possess professionalism, energy, enthusiasm and the desire to be a team player. Bilingualism is an asset.
