Teams selected for World All Round Championships & World Junior Championships

Speed Skating Canada and the High Performance Long Track Committee released today the list of athletes qualifying for the upcoming World All Round Championships as well as the World Junior Speed Skating Championships.

The skaters were selected for the World All Round Championships on the basis of their performances at the recently completed Continental Championships in Salt Lake City. Athletes were required to finish in the top seven overall. A maximum of four skaters could be selected from any one country. Only two skaters had been pre-qualified for the winter World Cup circuit, they were Cindy Klassen and Clara Hughes.

Canada will also be sending a full complement of skaters to the World Junior Championships in Kushiro, Japan, February 21-23, 2003. Selection for the world championships took place at the Canadian Junior Championships recently held in Ottawa, January 24-26, 2003.
