VANOC looking for forerunners for the Olympic Speed Skating Competition

VANOC is looking for a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 8 forerunners / track stewards for the Olympic Winter Games (minimum of 3 men and 3 ladies or 4 of each gender at the maximum). The forerunners will be required to participate in several dress rehearsals prior to the opening of the Games to allow for Timing, Scoring and Results to test their systems and for the broadcast team to get their shots set. Forerunners would also be used each day prior to the first race to test the system a final time. Those forerunners on a given competition day would also then be used as track stewards under the supervision of Supervisors who were used during the World Championships. Other duties may also be asked of them to ensure the best experience possible (some of these extra duties may include guiding athletes through the post event sequence after the race – to the flower ceremony).

This is a great opportunity for athletes to experience the Olympics and be a part of it. The deadline for applications is August 31, 2009. Please click here for more information and for the application document.
