Salt Lake City, December 10, 2017 – Ted-Jan Bloemen set a new world record in the men's 5000m, Sunday, on the last day of the ISU World Cup Long Track Speed Skating stage held in Salt Lake City, U.S.A., allowing him to win the gold medal, while Ivanie Blondin qualify in the 3000m at the 2018 Olympic Games following her fourth-place finish on Sunday.

Salt Lake City, December 9, 2017 – Canada may not have set foot on the podium on Saturday at the ISU World Cup Long Track Speed Skating stage in Salt Lake City, U.S.A., but that did not prevent Ivanie Blondin, Alex Boisvert-Lacroix, Olivier Jean and Keri Morrison from individually qualifying for the provisional long track team at the 2018 Olympic Games, while Canada earned 15 sports for PyeongChang 2018.

Salt Lake City, December 8, 2017 – Alex Boisvert-Lacroix from Sherbrooke, QC, won his second straight gold medal on the World Cup circuit in the 500m distance while Ted-Jan Bloemen, Ben Donnelly and Denny Morrison raced to victory in the men's team pursuit while also improving on the Canadian record, Friday, on the first day of the ISU World Cup Long Track Speed Skating stage to be held until Sunday in Salt Lake City, U.S.A.

Salt Lake City, December 7, 2017 – The Canadian Long Track Speed Skating team is in Salt Lake City, U.S.A., this weekend, December 8-10, for the last World Cup to be held this fall and, at the same time, this will be the last opportunity for the athletes to prequalify or qualify spots for Canada for the upcoming Olympic games.
 

Alex Boisvert-Lacroix wins 500m gold at Calgary World Cup

David La Rue sets a new junior world record in the 1500m distance

Calgary, December 3, 2017 – Alex Boisvert-Lacroix of Sherbrooke, QC, earned his first-ever gold medal at the international level when he won the men's 500m, Sunday, on the last day of the ISU World Cup Long Track Speed Skating stage held at Calgary's Olympic Oval.
 
Boisvert-Lacroix beat out South Korea's Min Kyu Cha by one thousandth of a second, clocking a time of 31.313 that came within 13 thousandths of a second from his personal best. Finland's Mika Poutala (34.38) collected bronze.
