Referees & Starters

Certification requirements for Referees and Starters (Levels 1, 2, 3, ISU International and ISU) are as follows:

a) Certification as a Level 1 Referee/Starter shall require attendance at a Level 1 clinic, assist at one(1) or more non-sanctioned meet, assist at one(1) or more SSC sanctioned meet (provincial or regional level), satisfactory evaluation from Chief Referee/Starter, review and approval from the Branch .

b) Certification as a Level 2 Referee/Starter shall require attendance at a Level 2 clinic, being a Referee/Starter at four(4) or more provincial/regional sanctioned meets, assistant at two(2) or more SSC sanctioned meets (provincial or regional level), satisfactory evaluation from Level 3 or higher Referee/Starter and review and approval from the Branch

c) Certification as a Level 3B Referee/Starter shall require attendance at a Level 3 clinic, being a Chief Referee/Starter at two(2) or more provincial/regional sanctioned meets, assistant at two(2) or more SSC sanctioned provincial/regional meets, assist at two(2) or more SSC National sanctioned meets, documented recommendation from the Branch, two(2) documented satisfactory evaluations from two(2) different Level 3A or higher Referee/Starter and review and approval from the SSC Officials Development Committee.

d) Certification as a Level 3A Referee/Starter shall require instructing a Level 1 clinic (Referees only), Chief Referee/Starter at three(3) or more SSC sanctioned meets(provincial/regional level), assist at three(3) or more SSC National/International sanctioned meets, two(2) documented satisfactory evaluations from two(2) different Level 3A or higher Referee/Starter and review and approval from the SSC Officials Development Committee.

e) Certification as a Level ISU International Referee/Starter shall require instructing a Level 2 clinic, attending an ISU clinic, Chief Referee/Starter at two(2) or more SSC sanctioned meets(national/international level), assist at two(2) or more SSC sanctioned meets(national/international level), two(2) documented satisfactory evaluations from ISU International Referee/Starter and/or ISU Referee/Starter and review and approval from the SSC Officials Development Committee.

f) Certification as a Level ISU Referee/Starter shall require instructing a Level 3 clinic, Referee/Starter at five(5) or more SSC sanctioned meets(national/international level) and recommendation from SSC to the ISU for inclusion on the ISU list.
