Shannon Rempel

BIOGRAPHY

Olympic silver medalist Shannon Rempel joined Canada’s long track national team as an assistant coach in 2020, where she supports Remmelt Eldering and the Calgary-based women’s training group.

A two-time Olympian, Rempel helped Canada win silver in the Team Pursuit at Torino 2006, alongside teammates Kristina Groves, Clara Hughes, Cindy Klassen and Christine Nesbitt. She won a total of eleven World Cup medals and captured 10 medals at the World Junior Championship from 2001 to 2004, reaching the overall podium twice.

The Winnipeg native had previously coached with the Calgary Grizzlies Speed Skating Club since 2003, most recently in their long track competitive stream.
