Budapest, Hungary, October 1st, 2017 – The Canadian men's relay team came through with an incredible comeback to win its first gold medal since November 2015, while Kim Boutin earned two more silver medals, one in the 1000m and another in the women's relay, Sunday, on the last day of the ISU World Cup Short Track Speed Skating stage held in Budapest, Hungary.
 

Kim Boutin earns silver in the 1500m at the ISU World Cup Short Track in Hungary

Budapest, Hungary, September 30, 2017 – Kim Boutin from Sherbrooke, QC, won Canada's first medal of the Olympic season in short track speed skating, Saturday, as she earned silver in the 1500m at the ISU World Cup slated to take place until Sunday in Budapest, Hungary. For her part, Marianne St-Gelais from Saint-Félicien, QC, finished fourth in the 500m.
 

Canada earns a total of 17 qualification spots for the final rounds of the ISU World Cup Short Track in Hungary

Budapest, Hungary, September 29, 2017 – Canada's short track speed skating team earned seven spots in the final rounds of the 1000m and relay events, Friday, on the second day of qualifying at the ISU World Cup, for a grand total of 17 spots in the final rounds of the four events scheduled to take place on Saturday and Sunday at the stage held in Budapest, Hungary.

Montreal, September 26, 2017 – Canada's short track speed skaters will open their international season this weekend as the first stage of the 2017-2018 ISU World Cup season will be held, Sept. 28 to Oct. 1st in Budapest, Hungary, where qualifying spots for countries at the 2018 Olympic Games will be at stake in the different events.
 

Ted-Jan Bloemen starts Olympic season with a new 5000m Canadian record

Calgary, September 22, 2017 – Ted-Jan Bloemen broke the Men’s 5000m Long Track Speed Skating Canadian Senior record, Friday, by clocking a time of 6:08,06 during the event held at Calgary’s Olympic Oval Fall Classic.

The 31-year old skater of Calgary, AB, lowered the previous Canadian mark by more than three seconds which was 6:11.64 and that Bloemen owned since September 24, 2016.

Sébastien Cros returns to Canadian short track speed skating program

Montreal, September 14, 2017 – Internationally renowned short track speed skating coach Sébastien Cros has returned to the Canadian program, where he will work as a NextGen coach.

In his new position, which is funded by Own the podium, the former head coach of the Canadian women's national team at the 2010 Olympic Games will now work with NextGen athletes, i.e. those who have been identified as being between five to eight years away from an Olympic podium, as of 2022 and after.
