Canadian long track speed skaters finish 16th, 17th and 18th at 2018 ISU World Allround Championships

Amsterdam, Netherlands, March 11, 2018 – Ted-Jan Bloemen from Calgary, AB, Denny Morrison from Fort St. John, B.C., and Antoine Gélinas-Beaulieu from Sherbrooke, QC, respectively finished 16th, 17th and 18th at the 2018 ISU World Allround Championships that ended on Sunday in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
 
In the men's 1500m race held on Sunday, Bloemen was the top Canadian with a sixth-place finish (1:51.22). Morrison was 11th (1:52.09) while Gélinas-Beaulieu was 19th (1:53.76).

Amsterdam, Netherlands, March 10, 2018 – Denny Morrison from Fort St. John, B.C., is the top Canadian after the first two men's events held at the 2018 ISU World Allround Championships which are underway in Amsterdam, Netherlands, until Sunday, as he is in 16th place overall.
 
On the women's side, Ivanie Blondin from Ottawa took 17th place in the 1500m (2:05.32) to finish the competition in 12th place in overall standings.
 

Long track speed skater David La Rue earns silver medal in 1500m at 2018 ISU World Junior Championships

Salt Lake City, U.S.A., March 9, 2018 – Long track speed skater David La Rue from Saint-Lambert, QC, earned on Friday a silver medal in the 1500m held at the 2018 ISU World Junior Championships set to take place until Sunday in Salt Lake City, U.S.A.
 
La Rue skated to a time of 1:44.59 to finish behind Norway's Allan Dahl Johansson (1:43.62). South Korea's Min-Seok Kim (1:45.11) collected bronze. Tyson Langelaar from Winnipeg, MB, took fifth place with a new personal best of 1:45.82.
 

Ivanie Blondin 11th overall after first day of the 2018 ISU World Allround Championships

Amsterdam, Netherlands, March 9, 2018 – Ivanie Blondin of Ottawa sits in 11th place overall at the 2018 ISU World Allround Championships, which are taking place until Sunday in Amsterdam, Netherlands, after finishing 10th in the 3000m and 12th in the 500m held on Friday.
 
As the races were presented under the rain, Friday, on an outdoor oval to celebrate the 125th anniversary of this competition, Blondin skated to a time of 41.10 seconds in the 500m to finish 12th. Then, in the 3000m, the 27-year-old Canadian skater registered the 10th fastest time, 4:26.55.

Sarault wins silver in women's 1000m and finishes second overall

Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland, March 4, 2018 – Canada won its first-ever world junior title in the short track speed skating relay, regardless of gender, as the women's team skated to gold at the World Junior Championships that ended on Sunday in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland. For her part, Courtney Sarault from Moncton, N.B., earned her second individual medal of the competition, silver in the 1000m, to finish second in overall standings.
 

Laurent Dubreuil finishes 12th overall at the ISU World Sprint Championships

He took second spot in Sunday's second 500m

Changchun, China, March 4, 2018 – Laurent Dubreuil from Lévis, QC, came up with a second-place finish in Sunday's second 500m event scheduled at the ISU World Sprint Championships in Changchun, China, which allowed him to move up one spot in the overall ranking and finish the competition in 12th place.
 
Thirteenth overall after the first day, Saturday, Dubreuil was able on Sunday to improve on both his results from the previous day.
 

Courtney Sarault earns silver in the 1500m at ISU World Junior Short Track Championships

Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland, March 3, 2018 – Canadian short track speed skater Courtney Sarault from Moncton, N.B., earned a silver medal in the 1500m event, Saturday, at the ISU World Junior Championships to be held until Sunday in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland.
 

Laurent Dubreuil 13th after the first day of the ISU World Sprint Championships

Changchun, China, March 3, 2018 – Laurent Dubreuil from Lévis, QC, is currently 13th in the men's cumulative ranking at the ISU World Sprint Championships held in Changchun, China, after the first two events have been completed.
 
On Saturday, Dubreuil finished in 10th place of the first 500m race (35.07) and 17th in the first 1000m (1:11.04).
