Speed Skating Canada has created the Youth Development Fund to support the future of speed skating for kids across Canada. The Youth Development Fund, when mature, will support annual program budgets for:
Club and Membership Development – The foundation of all community speed skating programs in every province and territory of Canada.
Coach Development – The training of leaders responsible for successful fun and technical youth programs.
Officials Development – The training of volunteers necessary for the operation of all fair and fun speed skating competitions.
Combined, these three pillars of speed skating form the foundation of high quality recreational and competitive programs encouraging healthy lifestyles and a positive youth social environment. Starting in community clubs, Canada’s national team skaters generate tremendous Canadian pride with their ongoing success at World Cup and Olympic competitions.
