2009 Speed Skating Canada Coaching Symposium Registration is now open

Come join speed skating coaches from across Canada for a fun and exciting weekend of professional development at Speed Skating Canada’s 2009 Coaching Symposium. A bi-annual event, the 2009 edition promises to be one to remember as we the symposium will be taking place just blocks from the Richmond Olympic Oval, host to long track speed skating during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.

The Symposium will be taking place June 19th through 21st at the Hilton Vancouver Airport and will feature workshops by members of Speed Skating Canada’s National Team Coaching Staff and Integrated Support Team as well Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) Expert Istvan Balyi, Frank W Dick OBE, President of the European Athletics Coaches Association and author of three coaching books including Sport Training Principles now in its 5th edition and Emmanuel Michon, biomechanist for the Short Track National Team.

Thanks to a partnership with its provincial and territorial branches, Speed Skating Canada is pleased to be able to cover travel costs and 3 nights shared accommodations to one coach from each club in Canada in attending the 2009 symposium. It is our hope that every club in Canada will be represented at the 2009 Speed Skating Canada Coaching Symposium to kick-off what promises to be a very exciting 2009-2010 speed skating season.

The cost per to attend is $200/coach for Speed Skating Canada members and $300 for non-members registered by May 11, 2009.

Pre-symposium activities will include an opportunity for Coaches to complete either their Level III Technical training or the new Speed Skating Introduction to Competition NCCP workshops.
