Calgary Speed Skating Club is seeking Long Track Head Coach

Calgary Speed Skating Association is looking for an individual to run its Long Track skating programs at Calgary’s Olympic Oval, the ‘fastest ice in the world’.

The Club trains over 300 skating members, ranging in age from Cradles to Masters 5.
The Calgary Speed Skating Association is developmental based skating organization priding ourselves on giving our skaters the skill sets they require from sound fundamentals based on instruction and technique.

The Long Track Head Coach of Calgary Speed Skating Association will be a leader in the sport, who will in conjunction with an experienced and dedicated Board of Directors, set and implement the vision and direction for growing our dynamic Club.
The successful candidate will be expected to not only develop our programs for our membership but also be entrusted to continually improve our skaters as well as our coaches so they have the tools necessary to move from our developmental system to the next levels of Provincial and National speed skating.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual interested in making a multi­year commitment with professional coaching as a career choice. In this regard, the ideal candidate will:

  • Be an experienced athlete with demonstrated technical skill in speed skating, including experience in racing strategy, tactics and skills;
  • Have supervisory skills in managing and motivating others in a team based environment;
  • Possess the interpersonal skills required to interface with skaters, coaches, parents, the CSSA Board of Directors, as well as other skater organizations, such as the Olympic Oval, Alberta Speed Skating Association, Speed Skating Canada, etc.
  • Possess a level 3 or equivalent coaching certification; and
  • Have the requisite skills to balance the needs of individuals while satisfying the needs of the larger organization

This career opportunity represents a multi-year part-time situation and as a result compensation therefore will be commensurate.
