Mark Nielsen wins the 100m on the last day of the Olympic Oval Finale

Alberta’s own Mark Nielsen won the 500m races and the electrifying 100m dash finals today at the Olympic Oval. He wowed the crowd with his incredibly fast starts off the line. Nielsen’s time of 9.51 in the 100m event marked a new personal best time!

In the men’s Sprint competition, Nielsen skated a new personal best time of 35.43, followed by Toru Suzuki (JPN) in second with a 35.51. National Team skater Sterling Sobczak was third with a time of 35.85. Groothuis was first overall in the Sprint competition, while teammates Brusche and Hairwassers were second and third, respectively. Nielsen did not place overall because he scratched from his second 1000m race.
