The photo of the week features skaters from British Columbia during the provincial long track development camp held at the Dawson Creek Oval.

During this training session, long and short track skaters are seen skating a 3000 m. For the short track skaters attending the camp this was their first experience training in -36 degree weather.

The photo was taken by Margaret Krieck from the Ridge Meadows Speed Skating Club in Maple Ridge, B.C.

Mrs Krieck will receive a pair of National team racing gloves for her submission.

The “Photo of the Week” initiative seeks to promote speed skating grassroots activities and competitions. The speed skating photos can be of children or adults at play, during training, at competitions or even at a fund-raising event.

If your photo is selected you could win one of the following prizes: SSC vest, Louis Garneau helmet, a pair of Auclair national team racing gloves or a pair of Adidas sport glasses.

At the end of the season, all weekly winners will be automatically entered into a final draw for a Timex watch.

This initiative is reserved exclusively for Speed Skating Canada members.
