Speed Skating Canada names Nicole Espenant as Manager, Marketing, Communications & Partnerships

Ottawa, August 15, 2018 – Speed Skating Canada (SSC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Nicole Espenant to the position of Manager, Marketing, Communications and Partnerships.

Nicole Espenant will play a critical role in achieving Speed Skating Canada’s strategic business priorities as they relate to raising the profile of SSC, the sport of speed skating, its athletes and domestic and international events. She will provide leadership and management of the marketing, communications, partnerships and events areas in order to ensure alignment from clubs through to high performance.

Combining her passion for helping others with her background in marketing and communications, Nicole Espenant has built a career helping non-profit organizations achieve their business goals. She served as Marketing and Communications Officer, then Manager, from 2014 to 2017 at United Way Centraide Canada. In this role, she gained extensive experience in increasing brand awareness and engagement while working hand-in-hand with partners, media and colleagues across the country. Immediately prior to joining SSC, Nicole Espenant served as a strategic advisor to senior leadership at NAV CANADA, heading a collaborative process aimed at guiding teams through communications planning decisions.

“I am truly honoured to be joining the Speed Skating Canada team”, said Nicole Espenant, who holds a Master of International Business degree from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Guelph. “This role combines my passion for Canadian sport with my communications background, both of which I am thrilled to contribute to the success of such a great organization. Integrating myself into the speed skating community across the country will be a top priority for me and I am eager to begin working with the committed staff, volunteers, athletes, coaches and officials to bring Speed Skating Canada to new heights."

“We are very excited to welcome Nicole to the Speed Skating Canada team”, said SSC’s Chief Executive Officer, Susan Auch. “The hiring of this position is the first step in fulfilling our commitment to enhance our organization’s goals and align them with those of our members. Nicole’s experience working with non-profit organizations combined with her ability to grow and maintain strong partner relations makes her the perfect addition to SSC’s team looking forward to the 2022 Beijing quadrennial.”

Nicole Espenant will begin her new role on August 20, 2018, and can be reached at nespenant@speedskating.ca.
