Job Description:

Speed Skating Canada (SSC) is the national governing body for speed skating in Canada and is responsible for the development of domestic and high performance programs in the sport. Representing all the provincial and territorial speed skating associations, SSC organizes and coordinates the sport of speed skating in Canada for the betterment of the sport and its members. SSC has a long history of international success in the competitive environment and is recognized as a leader both internationally and amongst Canada's National Sport Organizations. SSC has been at the forefront in its commitment to the Long Term Participant and Athlete Development Model. SSC’s next CEO will build upon the tradition of high performance excellence that has been fostered in the organization while also helping to develop participation in and sustainability of the sport of speed skating in Canada.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO is responsible for providing leadership and general management of the association in order to ensure the achievement of its long-term vision and strategic priorities. Towards this end, the CEO acts to position SSC in a situation of influence within the national sport and international speed skating communities. The successful candidate will be a visionary leader with a blend of outstanding leadership abilities, management expertise, an understanding of marketing and finance, government and sponsor relations experience, and sport system knowledge. A contagious passion for sport and what it brings to society, and a commitment to developing the sport of speed skating are necessary for success in the role. The ability to operate in English and French would be an asset.
