LONG TRACK TEAMS

Winners of 42 Olympic and over 150 World Championship medals, Canada’s long track team has long held a place among the world’s elite. Training out of the Olympic Oval in Calgary and the Centre de glaces Intact Assurance in Quebec City, the National High Performance Program is focused on developing Canada’s top skaters – present and future.

NATIONAL TEAM

The Canadian long track National Team is comprised of the top ranked skaters in the country, based on the previous year’s results. These skaters are the cream of the crop and consistently compete – and win medals – at the highest international levels. You’ll see them proudly representing their country on the World Cup circuit, as well as at World Championships and Olympic Games.

NEXTGEN TEAM

The Canadian long track NextGen Team is made up of skaters with future podium potential, who have earned their spot based on the previous year’s results and rankings. These up-and-coming skaters train alongside their National Team counterparts and can be selected to compete at various events on the international stage, from NextGen competitions to World Cups and World Championships.

NATIONAL TEAM COACHES

Based out of the National Training Centres – the Olympic Oval in Calgary and the Centre de glaces (currently under construction) in Quebec City – our coaching staff help athletes reach their full potential through training, preparation and analysis. These world-renowned coaches contribute a great deal toward the development and success of Canadian athletes, from the national level to the Olympic stage.

NATIONAL TEAM STAFF

An Integrated Support Team (IST) from CSI Calgary and INS Quebec works alongside the long track High Performance Program to provide athletes with world-class care and support for their training, competition and recovery programs. These experts in sport science, exercise and medicine coordinate to ensure that our skaters are healthy, fit and psychologically ready for optimal performance.
